The Results of EURO 2016 Qualification


Football enthusiasts can’t wait for EURO 2016, one of the biggest football tournaments in the world. This football tournament is a chance for countries from all over Europe to show their power on the field. There are many countries that want to join EURO. However, this year EURO is only limited for 24 countries only. All countries in Europe try their hard to pass the qualification round in order to play in the EURO 2016. The qualification round is quite tight. There are many surprises and there also new teams that enter the EURO this year. The qualification round is divided into nine group. This year EURO 2016 is held in France. The France team itself is confirmed pass the qualification round and will play in EURO 2016. The winner and the runner up of each group will pass the qualification round automatically. Other team that will pass the qualification round is the team that wins the third place and achieves the highest score. Once the winner and the runner up of each group and the team that wins the third place and gets the highest score is confirmed, the remaining eight teams will enter the play-off round where four teams will be selected to enter the competition.

According to the latest results of the qualification round, the teams that pass the qualification round and confirm to play in the EURO 2016 are including Czech Republic, England, Austria, North Ireland, Portugal, and Iceland. Iceland is basically a team that makes many people surprised. There are many people who don’t believe that a team like Iceland can pass the qualification round. On the other hand, other surprise came from Netherlands. Netherlands is considered as one of the most powerful teams in Europe. However, the result of the qualification round is beyond everyone expectation. Netherlands didn’t pass the qualification round and will not play in EURO 2016.

Netherlands has win World Cup for three times. In World Cup 2014, Netherlands even reach the semi final. In the qualification round of this year EURO, Netherlands should accept their loss from Turkey. However, this year EURO is predicted as one of the most exciting football tournaments for countries from all over Europe. People from all around the world are also enthusiast to know the struggle of each team in this year EURO. England is one of the most anticipated teams in this year EURO. After pass the qualification round, England will become home team for Estonia in Wembley. After that, England will visit Lithuania. On the other hand, Ireland will visit Poland while Scotland will visit Gibraltar. Wales will visit Bosnia Herzegovina and after that will meet Andorra in Cardiff City Stadium. North Ireland will face Finland in Helsinki.

After the qualification round is completed, play-off will be held. The first leg was held on 12 to 14 November while the second leg was held on 15 to 17 November last year. The draw of play-off is held on 18 October in Swiss. The draw for final round came to Paris in 12 December to join the official draw for EURO 2016. As home team, France provides 10 stadiums, including stadiums in Lens, Paris, Bordeaux, Marseille, Lyon, and Nice.
